Starting 2010 Right

I have been learning so many things about making jewelry in 2009. Reading, beading trial and error, and gifts for many! I am ready to load up my artfire store and spread the word. I am up late stringing and beading away. This is still only the beginning : )

Too Long No Post

I am still here. Living day to day, trying to bite off more than I can chew!
My application for a local art fair was denied yesterday : ( It was a nice email explaining that more artist applied then they could fit in the show. I was sad at first and then happy that I have more time to get more product ready. I have many projects going at once. I am trying to learn so many new techniques and am still looking for my nitch! It will happen!!!!!!
I have set up my dining room table for success in my beading this evening! Here we go..................

Artfire, Etsy, or Both continued

Both just might be the answer. But wait! Do I have different items on each site or the same on both?????
The more items you have on either site the more action you see. What if, by crazy chance, 2 people buy the same item?
I can't believe I am sitting on 30 new items that have not been posted. Problem being PICTURES!

Artfire or Etsy or Both

Google analytics rocks! It seems artfire is getting the most views. I have been in full research mode, trying to decide where to post my new items. Will it be esty or artfire?

Overall website appearance I vote artfire. I feel the colors are more vibrant and the digital art, on all artfire banners, is more modern. My store front grabs my attention faster on artfire.

Networking claims etsy as a winner in my book! I love the ponce, treasury, and who hearts this shop options. I also find it is easier to promote, though you have to be persistent.

I want to sew!!!! Yet I will bead!

I finally get a free weekend and I would give anything to spend it sewing. I just do not have the room. I have found myself needing more space and have to be patient till the space presents itself! So I bead...

I am looking forward to a weekend full of beading.

Working on the fall

Being a mother of an elementary student always brings it challenges in August. I am very excited about Zac being in 5th grade. I am proud of what a sweet young man he is. Well, he has his moments but don't we all! This back to school hussle has kept me from my jewelry making so be patient, a fall collection is soon to come.

It's Raining

It's Pouring, My Sweet Man is Snoring! I totaled my car, while avoiding a single scratch on either my son or I. I spent 3 beautiful days at the beach, recovering from shock, with the best people to be around. I fell down and I am getting back up with inspirations.
1: Eco-Friendly Beach items- there are not enough of these out there, and I have some ideas, YAY
2:Travel Bags for Earrings- good quality, durable, cute. Needed one badly this weekend!
3: Black Black Black. I found the coolest solid black seashells that are going to inspire a great project. So Excited
4: Metal- I lost a car this week that was actually special to me. I can't morn this vehicle because it protected my child's life. Therefore, I will remember that black galant with its own line of Jewelry!
Even when life gives you a rough week, oh and I could go on, there are so many beautiful things to see.

Research

I am so excited about all my recent accomplishments with my creative outlet. I feel focused and driven. With an ever growing to-do list, I find myself engulfed in research. Learning the ins and outs of marketing my crafts, excelling in my crafts, and deciding the crafts I love to work on best. I have turned my dining room into a makeshift studio where my son can draw and I can bead and sew, all while spending time together. Unfortunately, there is room for no more than that. So my lamp-working idea is on hold till we are in a bigger house, which is diligently being worked on. This keeps me in the restaurant biz till further notice, squeezing in my research between Mom, Waitress, Bartender, Beader, Sewing mama, House Cleaner, Pet Feeder, Shopper, Driver ect... I guess the point is I am working hard on balancing all and still feeling so focused and driven. So far success!
I have learned so much!
Research has me intrigued about the future in this crafty world. There is so much out there and I am ready to contribute. I seem to really be enjoying the jewelry currently, but I have a great sewing project on the tip of my mind that is about to get wicked!
Peace and Love my friends,
Natalie

June

I cannot say enough about how much I love the month of June. I am trying to figure out how to never work in this month again! Any ideas?

My jewelry making is well on the way. I have learned a lot about myself. I have so many great ideas but let myself get shut down by opinions. I really have decided to just do what I wanna do. This might seem "oh so simple". I guess to me it has not been simple because I have been in a habit, for years, of doing and living for others first. No one specific, just others. It feels great to let that wall down and just let my creativity take me wherever! I still find that I am scared to let my ideas out there for others to see. I am getting there.

My thoughts right now are simplicity.

bare essentials of life

nature being natural

symmetry

Feelings, Possessions, Relationships, Time... Everything being balanced!

JEWELRY in Progress

I am well on my way. I have 20 items ready to sell and I hope to double that number by the end of the week. I may have found my calling. Making jewelry satisfies me in ways I never knew. I am really enjoying the process and can't wait to get started selling online. I have decided I need some sort of website to display a gallery of my work and a little about myself. NEED HELP!!!
A friend and I are getting together this week and taking pictures of the jewelry I have ready.

First Sell

I sold my first set today. $25 for earrings and bracelet. I called the set prequoise. OK well I just made that up! Point is, I am focused and excited. I think the key to my productivity has been bringing my work into the family living room. I can still listen to my son ramble on about Naruto and hang with my man while I bead away! Tonight I am making a gift tonight for my lil lady friend Erika, who is performing in a play tomorow : )

Excited about BEADS

I just spent Memorial day weekend away from my beads and sewing machine and had the best time on the beach with my man and son. I missed making jewelry!!! I am shocked at how much more I have been enjoying beading compared to the last time I got into it five years ago and in high school. I started a decent size collection of all beading supplies in 2004. Beautiful beads of all kinds, wire of all kinds, plus much more just sat at the back of my closet collecting dust. I am proud that I cleared the dust and got busy. It feels great to accomplish projects I put away so long ago. I am on a roll and pushing out a ton of product! ESTY hear I come! Any special requests?
I'll add pics soon.
PEACE
Natalie
